In general, the purpose of an aircraft transponder is to
| | A) monitor aircraft speed, heading, altitude, and attitude whenever the autopilot system is engaged. |
| | B) continually transmit heading, speed, and rate of climb/decent etc. information to ATC. |
| | C) receive an interrogation signal from a ground station and automatically send a reply back. |
